What does FileMaker cost in 2026? Let us do the maths

Claris FileMaker's prices are no secret, but you do have to dig a little to find them. These are the rates as applied by the Dutch Claris reseller (2026 price level, excluding VAT), plus the costs that are not on the pricing page.

The licences

FileMaker for teams (including FileMaker Server) is an annual subscription, in fixed tiers:

A single FileMaker Pro licence for one user costs a one-off €665. If you buy directly from Claris in the cloud, they charge in dollars per user per month, billed annually in advance; you end up with comparable amounts. The prices given are indicative; check Claris or the reseller for current rates.

Note the tiers: there is no rate for two or three users. If there are three of you, you simply pay the full "up to 5" rate. And the subscription only covers the software: the server that FileMaker Server runs on, and its management, come on top of that.

The costs that are not listed

The licence is just the beginning. Anyone running FileMaker seriously also pays for customising and maintaining the system, and that is where the real pain lies: FileMaker specialists have become scarce and the hourly rates of specialised agencies are around €95 to €140. If you run an old licence without monthly costs, your costs appear to be zero, until the day an update breaks the system and everything has to happen at once.

What it costs with us

For comparison, our model: we rebuild your FileMaker system as a web application. A conversion that is not overly complex already fits within €395, including analysis; from 10 users, the initial analysis and the first day of development are even free. After that you pay €19.50 per user per month (up to 10 users; from 10 users €32.50). That covers everything: hosting, backups twice a day, updates and a team that manages your application. Small changes cost €15 per 10 minutes. You purchase the first year in one go; after that you pay per month and can cancel monthly.

A worked example. A team of 6 people pays FileMaker the tier for up to 10 users: €1,940 per year, around €162 per month, and also arranges the server and maintenance itself. With us: 6 times €19.50 is €117 per month, everything included, and nobody ever has to "do something with the server" again.

Would you like to know what this means for your situation? Send us your number of users and a description of your system, and we will do the maths for you. The full offer is on the pricing page.

Frequently asked questions

What does FileMaker cost per year for a small team?

For a team of up to 5 users, FileMaker (including FileMaker Server) costs €1,140 per year excluding VAT in 2026, and €1,940 per year for up to 10 users. There is no rate for two or three users: you then pay the full tier for up to 5. The server that FileMaker Server runs on, and its management, come on top of that. Prices are indicative; check Claris or the reseller for current rates.

Can I still buy FileMaker as a one-off purchase instead of a subscription?

A single FileMaker Pro licence for one user costs a one-off €665. If you want several people to work in the same database at the same time, you need FileMaker Server, and that is only included in the annual subscription.

Which costs are not on Claris's pricing page?

The server or hosting that FileMaker Server runs on, its management, and the customisation and maintenance of your application. That last item is the largest: FileMaker specialists are scarce and specialised agencies charge around €95 to €140 per hour.

What does a converted web application cost compared with FileMaker?

A conversion that is not overly complex fits within €395, including analysis. After that you pay €19.50 per user per month for up to 10 users (from 10 users €32.50), including hosting, backups twice a day, updates and management. A team of 6 thus pays €117 per month, compared with around €162 per month in FileMaker licences plus a server of your own.
